When to act and when to wait – isn’t that the rub?  In relationships as in life we have to make decisions all the time.  From the mundane, what’s for supper? To the serious, should I take this new job?  For some people decision-making seems to be easy, while others seem to struggle with even minor decisions…

Frankly I think we all struggle, no matter our style.  What often trips us up is ourselves – our egos.  We think everything is about us whether we want to admit or not.  People are rude to you, not the rest of the crowd.  She/he is taking it out on only you.  You take things personally, even while you try to laugh it off…Sound familiar?

Since we are in the midst of mercury retrograde, this is a great time to work on discernment.  Why?  Things are going wrong. Communications, travel, and messages are all messed up.  Thus creating perfect opportunities to take life personally with offenses – real or imagined.

Therefore when these offenses, a.k.a. opportunities come your way (and they will!), I invite you to do the opposite of your ‘normal’ response.  If you traditionally speak your mind, keep quiet.  Yet if you are usually, ‘mum is the word’ – now is the time to find your voice.  You’ll be surprised with your results.

The only way you learn discernment is through living – being the idiot in some moments and stunningly brilliant in others.  I’ve tried to avoid the idiot-side during this mercury retrograde by using the opposite technique in conflicts and/or odd situations – keep quiet and wait for others to come to me.  Honestly I’ve been astounded by what I’ve learned.  Maybe you will too, give it a try…

When you are on your path, you are always creating a better today.  Moments bound together by the desire to live more fully.  Until the spark, the magic that pulls it all together.  The stars align. 

Sometimes you can’t see what you are building until you get there.  Yet you are drawn down the path.  Guided by a light inside, guided by your heart.

…Kicking my a$$.  Let’s see – my computer has melted down, the battery on my car died, the heat in our home won’t turn on anymore, suddenly my email works sporadically and insult to injury, the person I am to travel to Belize with next week is stuck in Europe under a volcanic cloud.  Where is my bed that I can hide under until May 11^th? 

The planet mercury doesn’t actually travel backwards in the sky – it just appears to be.  Mercury retrograde can throw communication, travel, mail, appointments, commerce and perception all into chaos.  Your car may break down.  You may forget appointments.  Have many, many miscommunications.  Ex-boyfriends/girlfriends may show up.  Old issues could arise in your relationships…

Although this can be a trying time (at least for me it has been!), it can also be one of transformation.  Opportunities present to resolve old issues, it’s a great time to work on long-term projects and often there are surprise contacts from long-lost friends.  Gratefully know this is temporary, in couple weeks mercury will be moving forward again.  So best bet, just roll with and have a sense of humor.  Heck, I got a new computer!

Recently I have been contacted by many new clients struggling with strange things going on at their homes.  It seems that between midnight and 3:30ish am something odd is afoot.  Their dogs are barking at doorways, sleeplessness, feelings of being watched, unexplained anxiety and irritability are just a few of the complaints…

 If you are experiences any difficulties such as these, here are a few things to consider…

 Spring is a time of forward energy and anger.  In Eastern medicine it is viewed to be closely aligned with anger and the liver.  The idea is the anger acts as a force to break through – for a seed or plant, this would provide the energy to break through the ground and join the sun again.  Interestingly, Eastern medicine also divides the day into two hour intervals.  The intervals identify when your body/emotions are more susceptible to certain energies.  The hours of 1 am to 3 am are associated with the liver.

 The liver is said to process anger and emotions.  The liver is also related to water – which of course, our culture has long associated with emotions.  Are you angry?  And do you drink a lot of alcohol?  This could suggest you have repressed issues with anger and unspoken emotions.  Try drinking more water to flush your system of any stuck emotions or toxins. 

Another aspect to consider is the very energy that surrounds us.  For many individuals who channel masters and the like, now is said to be a time of great shifting.  The recent earthquakes (more are predicted by this group) are intended to not only open the hearts of all people by wanting to help those who are affected, but also to change the very core of the earth – readying the planet for a total shift in consciousness.  Karen Bishop is an excellent resource of this belief.

 She believes at this moment not only in the shifting earth, but that there are many ‘visiting’ entities.  Some are good and some are bad.  You have the ability to send any of these negative beings away with just the phrase, go back to the light.

 Personally, as of late I have been missing things.  I was in a session last week with a client and my pen just disappeared.  I had just gotten up and left the room to find a pen – my client and I even joked about kids and missing pens.  I put the pen on my desk and not five minutes later it was gone.  My client was speechless as we both saw me get the pen and put in on my desk.  It lay right next to us as we were talking.  Then it was gone.  She was aghast and I was laughing – damn leprechauns.  

 I’m kind of used to these kind of games and I know the pen will show again where I least expect it.  When you are more sensitive to your world, you will discover magic is still afoot.  I like to think of it as the universe letting me know it is all around me every moment and also letting me know who is really in charge – not me!

 So, if some odd things are happening right now you have options.  You can clear yourself and your home.  (How to smudge your home or office.)  You can have a sense of humor.  You can journal to discover and release any anger or negative emotions you are holding.  Finally you can seek help if need be, it’s there, waiting for you.   Ask and you shall receive.

Yesterday I was reminded again how much I love intuition.  It has become an unbelievably helpful tool in my daily life that has shown up in surprising and rewarding ways…

 In March we are headed back to Costa Rica to celebrate my Birthday.  We’ve got the villa set, but unfortunately the plane tickets have seemed very expensive.  Several weeks ago I mentally decided the price and times that were fair and worked best for me.  I have been waiting for prices to drop accordingly.  Every day I checked kayak.com and specific airlines waiting for the sale I was sure was coming…

 On Monday Frontier’s prices dropped, but the dates weren’t right.  I woke up yesterday slightly panicked thinking, ok, switch the dates around Kelly, you’ve got to buy today!  As I am in the process of buying the tickets, the prices drop again and the right dates lined up – I’m golden.  The tickets were bought, and this morning when I checked the same flights – they had gone up $1700.  Joy of all joy!  Not only am I keenly aware of the benefit of listening to that little voice, but my pocketbook is oh so happy too!

These past months I feel a bit like I’m in the boat, sails up yet no rudder – the wind is sporadic.  Sometimes I seem to be spinning in the same circles around and around.  Other times – I feel dead in the water yet still other days, I find myself zooming off into directions unknown.  Interestingly I know I am not alone.

 I hear it over and over from my friends, from people I haven’t spoken to in months and from many of my clients – I just don’t know which way to turn, but something’s gotta give.  I’ve questioned myself – is this how it has always been?  Are we always on the edge in some way or is this something bigger?

 I am relentlessly optimistic.  I always, always, always believe there is a brighter day.  The darkest part of the night only emboldens me to hold on tighter and wait for dawn, as I know it comes.  Unfortunately it doesn’t always come in my timing however…Gratefully one of the gifts in being almost forty years old is I’ve known miracles.  I have seen amazing things come to pass out of nowhere, hence I know dawn comes…eventually. 

 I have learned that sometimes wandering the desert or in a rudderless boat can carry you to places unexpected and magical.  Somehow I had forgotten this – I had become one of the adults in The Little Prince…
