I read this book on New Year’s Eve/Day and I was surprised. My husband had given the book to me as a Christmas gift. I had never heard of it before, but my husband has a way of knowing my heart – so I gave it a try…
Interestingly, I really enjoyed the book when I read it and have referred several friends and clients to it, but now that I look at the book in hand – again, I’m surprised…Upon my first reading a couple months ago, I was fascinated by her many different techniques to bring intuition and spirit more present in you life. I still am and think some techniques are very useful.
However, as I look at the chapter titles, I remember nothing of her words, her beliefs. Well, actually one part of her writing does stand out and always will – her discovered root meaning of the word magic is “to bring light to.” Being also a lover of words and magic – this definitely resonated with me and gave her writing voice authority as I continued to read.
I don’t think less of the book; I am just reminded that what is important will rise up. Yes, now that I reflect further, she did reveal a bit about her life and how she came to her beliefs, but it is the techniques to incorporate magic into your daily life that is the importance of the writing.
I encourage anyone interested in living a more magical life to read this book and even try out a few of her techniques – like me, you will be surprised.

Cool blog! I love the topic of conversation!

Thank you for sharing your post. One thing I remember most in the beginning is that Ms. Bushnell encourages us in the end to throw her words away and find our own.
Best regards-

I found your blog via Google while searching for meditation techniques and your post regarding Life Magic by Laura Bushnell looks very interesting to me. I have seen many sites before and most of them do not look this good. I cannot wait to let my friends know about this site. Thanks for the excellent content.

Hi, Thanks for commenting. To answer your question on why I wrote this blog – well, I write about things that interest me and I think will be interesting/helpful to others. There is a lot of good exercises in the book that can help anyone (me too!) transform their lives in the privacy of home.

I just finished reading Life Magic by Laura Bushnell. I also liked a lot of what she had to say. The exercises seem very interesting. I was a bit skeptical towards the end of the book though. The excercises in the last couple of chapters seem more like spells. I am trying to keep an open mind but it would be nice to hear of other people’s experiences with some of these exercises. Have you tried any of the exercises in the last chapters? If so, what did you think and how was your experience with them?

Hi Lisa,
I have not tried the exercises in the later chapters, however I just took a look and understand your concerns. One idea I always like to remember is “things” are not magic – it is our intention that loads the object. I read these exercises as ways to connect more fully with your intentions and integrate them into your life.
And the best advice about reading anything like this – read lightly. Not everything fits for you and thats ok. Take the news tools you can and let go the rest. Let me know if you had any specific questions.
Thanks for your comments, Kelly

Hello Everyone! I heard about this blog so came on and am very happy to invite you to try the magic. It is fun!! Thank you for your comments. The exercises in the last part of the book will make more sense IF you do the exercises in the first part of the book. It is meant to be a process. Reading them does not allow you to experience them. Our minds bring us into things that only our hearts and our spirit can experience. While these exercises are time consuming those that have used them have really found wonderful magic and more importantly more inner peace. None of them are important — it is all inside of you already!! Thank you Kelly and God Bless everyone. May 2009 be a wonderful and blessed year for all.

Hi
I just recently found the book Life Magic and love it. I have been going through may changes and have been finding so much joy and feeling so blessed. This book seems to reinforce what I have been finding and feeling. I do love some of the exercises. I do what feels right and fits with my new life.
Just my 2 cents.

I have been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will be much more useful than ever before.
